Game Of The Week: Week 1

Our Game Of The Week for Week 1 will be Sharyland Rattlers visiting the Mcallen Memorial Mustangs at Mcallen Veterans Stadium on Friday 8/28/15.

Rattlers will be led by new QB Seth Carter and will look for his main target WR Manny Campos to move the ball against a Mustangs defense, featuring the stacked line up of LB Sam Hinojosa, DB Joey Delgado, DB Ozzy Salazar, DT Ricky Minor.

Stangs look to avenge last years 59-28 loss to Shary as offensive juggernaut RB Trevor Speights will look to start the season off with another huge performance.

2nd Annual Semi Pro Football All Star Showdown

The 2nd Annual Semi Pro Football All Star Showdown took place at the Richard Borchard Fairgrounds in Robstown, Tx.

Both squads battled it out early with the South taking a 14-6 lead into halftime. In the second half North squad found the endzone and completed a 2pt. conversion to tie the game 14-14 late in the 4th qtr. South turned the ball over on downs with 40 seconds left in the game allowing the North to run a few plays and get into scoring distance, but the drive came to an end when South defense back came up with an interception as time expired with the game going into overtime at 14-14.

In overtime the North squad scored first with a 9 yard screen TD pass, but did not convert the 2pt. conversion as the QB was sacked on the attempt. The South quickly moved the ball and tied the game up on a 3 yard TD run, the score was tied again at 20-20 with the South only needing the extra point for the win, but the snap went past the holder and was picked up by the North defender, who was looking to return it for the 2pts. and the win, but he was denied when a lone South player chased him 70 yards and caught him to made the game winning tackle and ending the game at a 20-20 tie.
