The RGVCA East vs. West Football All Star game was played Saturday night at Bobby Lackey Stadium in Weslaco. The East side went on to defeat the West side 31-7 to officially end the high school careers of the Class of 2017 Seniors

Edinburg Vela hires new football head coach

At the Edinburg CISD school board meeting voted on Wednesday night, it was announced that John Campbell will be the new football head coach/athletic director at  Edinburg Vela High School.

Campbell was the former head coach at San Antonio Brandeis, San Antonio John Jay and most recently at San Antonio Madison.

Out of 40 applicants, they were narrowed down to 5 finalist. (the other finalists listed below)

Jody Cantu - Edinburg Vela defensive line coach

Jesse Salinas - Edinburg Economedes offensive coordinator

RGV SPEED CAMP IN MERCEDES 4.2.17

RGV Pop Warner & South Texas Showcase held a speed camp at Tigers Stadium in Mercedes. Two sessions were held and both were a huge success as RGV athletes learned a lot from coaches Carl Greenwood & D.J. Monroe.

RGV Speed Camp in Mercedes

RGV Pop Warner and South Texas Select Showcase will be having a Speed Camp in Mercedes featuring Carl Greenwood & D.J. Monroe. The speed camp will focus on speed, power, flexibility and several other agility drills.

Though this camp may seem football oriented, this camp is open and beneficial to athletes of all sports. All athletes are encouraged to attend.

STX Showcase Underclassmen Camp announced

For all the 2018 & 2019 kids....here it is!

@sotxshowcase Will have a 2 day camp in Corpus with testing conducted by Zybek Sports and position drills with our coach staff on June 3rd, then college coaches from TAMUK, Southwestern, McMurry, Louisiana Prep, Ottawa University Arizona and TLU attending on June 4th as players will go through additional position drills and competition. Look for more colleges to be added in the future.

Sharyland Sting defeated the Do'ville Tigers 20-18 to improve to a 4-0 record. Exciting game went down to the wire.

Sting are home again this weekend as they host the Coastal Bend Bears at Sharyland Pioneer H.S. 3.25.16

Weslaco hires new coach

Edinburg Vela head coach Michael Salinas has been announced as the new football head coach/athletic coordinator at Weslaco High School.

Salinas has been the only coach for the Sabercats since it's opening in 2012.

Santa Rosa falls to Madison in the State Semis

Warriors were the last RGV team remaining in the playoffs and finish the season with a 34-4 record.

Warriors ranked #2 in the state, hold a 34-3 season record.
